Kevin Tobin Posted 30 November , 2013 Share Posted 30 November , 2013 i have been trying to get the War Memorial at Fringford, Oxfordshire renovated. This is being done with the blessing of the Church and Parish Council. I have made a preliminary request for a grant, but have been unable to find any stone masons wiling to give us a quote for the work. ( The grant process requires three quotes) We are looking to re-engrave the names and clean the memorial. With a possible second quote to correct a 2 degree lean. I have obtained a structural engineers report and it is safe to work on. Can any members suggest any stone Masons please?
GraemeClarke Posted 30 November , 2013 Share Posted 30 November , 2013 Morning, Firstly, I have no immediate financial gain in the below, but have become friends of each. When I researched the Birmingham City Police deaths on the WW1 and WW2 at Police H.Q. at Birmingham i was surprised to see the grave in England either non existent or in total disrepair. See http://icbirmingham.icnetwork.co.uk/mail/news/tm_headline=home-front-heroes-to-get-fitting-tribute%26method=full%26objectid=18888093%26siteid=50002-name_page.html I was granted 9k by the Police Federation to restore or place headstones. After many meetings it was decided to place the order with 2 suppliers, one to restore and one to manufacture. The manufactured ones were made by Jonathan Bower Protheroe of Cefn Suran Cottages, Llangunllo http://www.jbprotheroe.com/ here is what he produced The renovations were carried out by G.D. memorials of 19, High Street, Walsall Wood 01543 454429 An example of their work is shown on the newspaper report and below I have no hesitation in recommending them and have no, I stress, financial gain from this, Regards, Graeme
