Hi all.

Im trying to find info on my Great Grandad, Private Isaac Brannon, 13484. I know he was in the 10th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment, Green Howards. He died on the 1st October 1915, I believe from action at the Battle of Loos. I have a picture of his headstone, at Etaples Military Cemetary, France.

Any more info, would be greatly appreciated.

You might already have his MIC, but if not it states he landed in France on the 9th September 1915.

I can send you a copy if you like.

The MIC is the Medal Index Card. It provides details of the campaign medals that were awarded, as well as a link to the main medal rolls held at the National Atchives in Kew.

Some cards also provide details such as the date and theatre in which the man first served, as well as things such as honours and awards, home address, and their final fate.

More information can be found here:

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/medal-index-cards-ww1.htm

and no doubt other members can add to the brief description I have put above.

Johnnie

PS. I'll email the MIC across to you.

Isaac is noted on the Yorkshire regiment website http://www.ww1-yorkshires.org.uk/html-files/etaples-cemetery.htm

This has him born and living in Ryhope but enlisting at Boldon Colliery and he is on this memorial http://www.newmp.org.uk/detail.php?contentId=6440 there.

At Ryhope memorial there is a B Brannon a driver in RFA but not and Isaac.
