Guest higgy58 Posted 21 November , 2013 Share Posted 21 November , 2013 Hi Could anyone give me any information on Capt Richard P Higginbottom and his brother Edwin William (or could be William Edwin) Higginbottom of New Mills. I think William was in the Manchesters and Richard with the Royal Engineers. Many thanks

Old Owl Posted 21 November , 2013 Share Posted 21 November , 2013 Hi What is a medal index card and can I see it anywhere? Many thanks Simon Hi Simon, Welcome to the Forum. You will need to access Ancestry.co.uk in order to access the WW1 Medal Index Cards. This is available at your local library or alternatively you will have to subscribe. If you are wanting to look at these two MIC's only then it is cheaper to do it via your library, as you will only have to pay for the cost of printing out the MIC's. You can also access the MIC's through the National Archives at Kew and possibly also the officer's service papers which come under WO339 or WO374, there are however considerable costs incurred in order to obtain copies of these. Hope this helps, Robert

8055Bell Posted 23 November , 2013 Share Posted 23 November , 2013 Higgy, William will have died in the assault on Guillemont. He will have also been present in first wave in the successful attack on Montauban on 1st July, when the 19th took Glatz Redoubt as part 21st Bgd and 30th Division.
