6th Bn Leicestershire Service Number

Hi Folks

I'm trying to trace roughly when a soldier might have enlisted from his service number.

I appreciate men were moved around Regiments and given new service numbers but being a local lad in the local Regiment I'm hoping someone has previously traced around service number 203876. It's for Pte James Lester of the 6th Bn Leicesters, unfortunately his papaers were in the burny records.

Any suggestions geatly appreciated.

Cheers

He has his enlistment date on his medal card (unusually) as 13.7.1917

Qualified for BWM + VM.

Good Morning Tank,

James was discharged, with a SWB, on the 17th October 1919 with wounds, more than likely a discharge card for the MIC, with the dates being on it? He is also recorded on the 1918 AVL as being a resident of Wood Street, Ashby.

Regards.

Llew.
