Can you be a bit more specific as to what info you're after, Maricourt?

7/KRRC attacked ORCHARD TRENCH successfully on 18 Aug 1916. They were relieved that night and moved back to the POMMIERS REDOUBT

They went into the line at HOP ALLEY on the night of 24 Aug 1916 relieving 8/KRRC.

They came out the line on the night of 26 Aug relieved by the 1/RWF and moved to DERNANCOURT..

They were shelled intermittently during this spell in the line ... by both sides :-(

They had a few days of training and absorbing new drafts before entraining at ALBERT on 30 Aug for AIRAINESE and marching thence to billets in METIGNY, for further rest and training.

On 10 Sep they began their move back into the line ready for the Battle of FLERS on 15 Sep passing through DERNANCOURT, FRICOURT, MONTAUBAN ALLEY and DELVILLE WOOD.

During the battle on 15 Sep they supported 8/KRRC in the capture of SWITCH TRENCH and passed through to attack and capture GAP TRENCH.

Here's Rennie's signature for interest ...

Not specifically August 1916, but full name George Arthur Paget RENNIE.

Born 16 Sep 1872

I have now managed to flesh out the majority of his career ....

18 Oct 1893 - Commissioned 2/Lt. (possibly from a militia unit)
30 Jan 1897 - Lieutenant
Dec 1899 - 3/KRRC (S Africa Nov 1899-)
Dec 1900 - no btn listed but war services suggests still in 3/KRRC
25 Feb 1901 - Captain
Dec 1901 - 4/KRRC (S Africa)
Dec 1902 - 3/KRRC (Machadodorp, Transvaal, S Africa)
Dec 1903 - I do not have this list!
Dec 1904 - 3/KRRC (Bermuda 1904-05)

25 Apr 1905 to 24 Apr 1908 - Adjt., 8/KRRC (Carlow Rifles, Cork - one of the KRRC's militia battalions, disbanded in 1908 under the Haldane Reforms)
Dec 1908 - 4/KRRC (Colchester)
Dec 1909 - 2/KRRC (btn spent most of 1909 in Jubbulpore, India, returning to Shorncliffe - I suspect Rennie joined at Shorncliffe)
Dec 1910 - 2/KRRC (Shorncliffe)
12 Aug 1911 - Major
Dec 1911 - 2/KRRC (Shorncliffe) now as Major
Dec 1912 - 1/KRRC (Aldershot)
Dec 1913 - 1/KRRC (Aldershot)
19 Aug 1914 - temp Lt.-Col. commanding 7/KRRC (in 41 Brigade, 14th (Light) Division)
Dec 1914 - 1/KRRC, attd. as OC 7/KRRC (England, mostly in Aldershot)
19 May 1915 - 7/KRRC landed in Boulogne
24 Nov 1916 - relinquishes command of 7/KRRC and returns to England (source: 7/KRRC war diary)
24 Nov 1916 to 18 Oct 1917 - cannot yet find any information - staff course possibly?
01 Jan 1917 - Brevet Lt.-Col.
18 Oct 1917 to 26 Apr 1919 - temp Brig.-Gen. OC, 146 Infantry Brigade, 49th (West Riding) Division

07 Dec 1919 - Lt.-Col. - this is also listed in the 4/KRRC records in the 1919 KRRC Chronicle, suggesting perhaps that Rennie was on that battalion's establishment.

Entries marked simply as Dec 19xx are sourced from the annual Harts Army Lists

His war service to 1919 ...

DSO before 1915 - apparently from Boer War. CMG in 1918. Various MiD as per above.

Is this any use to you?

Mark

EDIT 21 Nov - greater detail on his career added and some corrections made
