dravin Posted 19 November , 2013 Share Posted 19 November , 2013 Dear all I am trying to help a descendent of a soldier who has a photo and wants to identify the unit if possible They thought it was an Essex regiment but apart from residence they are unsure where that came from There is a reasonable photo with a close up of the cap badge My feelings were a Warrant Officer of the RASC Could others please give an opinion on it I have checked WO363 & WO364 Hi name is William Elias LAMBERT 1878 - 1933 This may be his medal card if I am correct re unit William E LAMBERT WO Cl 1S/357571
elliot#1 Posted 19 November , 2013 Share Posted 19 November , 2013 I would agree ASC/RASC, certainly not Essex Regt. Elliot
Old Owl Posted 19 November , 2013 Share Posted 19 November , 2013 I agree with ASC. He also appears to be a WO.1 or R.S.M. Robert
Khaki Posted 19 November , 2013 Share Posted 19 November , 2013 Has the photo been reversed ?, the sam browne shoulder strap should run from the right shoulder to the left hip with the sword worn on the left side, likewise the buckle prongs are pointing the wrong way. khaki
Steven Broomfield Posted 19 November , 2013 Share Posted 19 November , 2013 Yes: the flap of the jacket buttons on the wrong side, so unless he's a laydee the photo's the wrong way round.
sw63 Posted 19 November , 2013 Share Posted 19 November , 2013 Also the ASC on the cap badge is clear if you flip the image.

Andrew Upton Posted 31 January , 2014 Share Posted 31 January , 2014 Yes: the flap of the jacket buttons on the wrong side, so unless he's a laydee the photo's the wrong way round.
