PhilipOsier Posted 19 November , 2013 Share Posted 19 November , 2013 Hello GWF, I have a question regarding a Bronze medal of military valour(italy), that was received by 2/Lt Daniel Sheridan (was also a CSM of the 10th) of the 2nd Bn HLI. I was wondering how he may have obtained an Italian medal? Regards, Phil
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 19 November , 2013 Share Posted 19 November , 2013 Most likely as an "INTER ~ALIA" exchange of awards the Allies would in effect have a quantity of Allied awards to grant to desrving cases as the Valour descended a Scale, Your man may never have even seen an Italian, however he may have been attached to or serving alongside Italian troops, It should be promulgated in the London Gazette, but I doubt details of the Circumstance will surface unless mentioned in his Local Press etc;
PhilipOsier Posted 20 November , 2013 Author Share Posted 20 November , 2013 Thank you kindly, I found a listing of the decoration in the Dundee Courier, May 1917. I will now cross reference earlier dates in some of the H.L.I war diaries and see if he is mentioned. Thank you again, Phil
