I have New Zealand relative who, according to family history, was in the Mechant Navy and was killed at Archangel. We have never been able to tfind any official record of his death. The family was sent a medal whch I have not seen but it is brnze with laural leaves at the edges. we do not have the ribbons.

Can anybody help.

Welcome to the Forum !

Can you post his name and any MN or other service details.

You describe the medal which fits the Victory Medal, which ordinarily goes with the issue of the British War Medal. If he was MN then he also probably had the Mercantile Marine

Medal.

Have you searched on CWGC under Merchant Navy ?

There are sometimes very obscure happenings on Find My Past. I have found a sailor before by looking there after other of my usual avenues have dried up.
