Remembered Today:

3 Bn Worcestershires, then Hampshire Regiment

Francis M Pearce (44180) died on 8 November 1918, aged 19

He is recorded as serving with 3 Worcestershires but he also served with the Hampshire Regiment, the latter being more logical as he was a Sussex/Hampshire border lad (1911 Census)

Would anybody be able to provide me with his enlistment date and anything else that might add to his picture.

Another of our village lads who fell,

Many thanks,

Rosemary

His number in Hamps Reg was 44299. If his mic was written chronologically then he was with the Hamps first. The MIC does not show transfer date. Unless he lied about his age then he probably enlisted late 1917 to early 1918.

If he enlisted around1917 he may have just been sent where he was needed, If you go to Long Long Trail, top right of page and look up 3 Worcs you may be able to see where they were before and at the time of his death. If they were engaged in a battle Sept/Oct and lost men then the above might be the reason.

A quick look on Ancestry, Military, brought up no further info, If you have access and time have a look.
