colin12 Posted 25 September , 2004 Share Posted 25 September , 2004 Thanks to Gareth and Ed, I have been made aware that Wm Hy Burns was stationed at this aerodrome and went forward to signal to the observers flying overhead, about troop movements, using an aldis lamp, but he was mortally wounded. Does anyone know of this RFC aerodrome. Colin

Dolphin Posted 26 September , 2004 Share Posted 26 September , 2004 Colin There's a section on Merville Aerodrome, with some modern and contemporary illustrations, in the 'Ypres' volume of Mike O'Connor's excellent 'Airfields & Airmen' books in the 'Battleground Europe' Series. The ISBN is 0 85052 753 8. I hope this helps you in your research. Gareth

Dolphin Posted 26 September , 2004 Share Posted 26 September , 2004 Colin I hope it's useful. If nothing else, it'll show where the aerodrome was, and what's left. Gareth
