WW1 medals, memorial plaques, scrolls to brothers who both died in the Great

war.

10/280 Pte William Black and 10/3488 Pte John Black of the Wellington

Infantry Regt N.Z.E.F, 2nd Bn.

The frame houses a scroll with the brothers names and units from George v R

I. All medals are fully engraved plaques have their names. One brother has

the full WW1 medal trio the other only has two of the trio.

Pte William Black died of enteric fever on Malta on 2 October 1915 after

being evacuated off Gallipoli. Was present at August Offensive and earlier

actions. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Black, of Spring Creek, Marton, New

Zealand. Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.

John Black died of wounds in UK ex France 11 October 1916, at the age of 21.

A group consisting of a WW1 Trio, NZ Territorial Service Medal, NZ Long &

Efficient Service Medal and Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal,

plus a set miniatures plus a silver fob dated 1910, engraved with the

initials of the medal recipient "A.J.J.". The trio are named: 23/179

Rflm.A.J.Jordan. N.Z.E.F.. The T.S.M. and L.E.S.M. are lightly impressed:

Bdsmn. A.J. Jordan, Wgtn. Rgt. The C.A.F.LSM is named: Bandsman A.J.

Jordan. Wellington Regt.

A group of 9 New Zealand medals to 2/1014 A.W.Homes consisting of 1914/15

Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal, War Medal, New Zealand War Service

Medal, Colonial Auxiliary Long Service Medal (8th NZMR), NZ Long & Efficient

Service Medal (Staff Sergeant 8th NZMR), NZ 2 year Territorial Service Medal

(Sqd Sgt 8th NZMR), St Johns Long Service Medal (Wellington Division 1944).

With originial Certificate of Service, Discharge papers for both WW1 & WW2,

bestowal document for the Gallipoli medallion & Lapel Badge. Copy of

Military file. Served Gallipoli, Egypt, Europe. Total service 7/6/1910 -

30/10/1944. The Gallipoli Medallion & Lapel Badge are not with the group.

WW2 Australian four medal. The two stars are unnamed. Other two inscribed

21085 V.H. Bertwistle. The family thought that he also served in Africa in

the Cavalry.

An attractive certificate as issued to all New Zealand soldiers who

participated in WW1. This certificate measures 45x38 cm an is issued to

CORPORAL LAWRENCE BLOMFIELD. It mentions he saw service in the WESTERN

EUROPEAN theatre of war in 1918. He was awarded the British War Medal, and

the Victory Medal. He served a total of 286 days in NZ, and 325 days

overseas between 1917-1919.
