Remembered Today:

MEDAL RIBBONS AND THEIR ORDER OF PRECENDENCE

I have recently come across a photograph of Field Marshall Haig, and I've noticed that he is wearing the 1911 Coronation Medal at the 'beginning' of his ribbons (where Gallantry Decorations and such go). Can anyone please account for this anomaly, as I'm sure that the Order of Wear is:

1. Decorations (e.g. VC, CB, DSO and MC)

2. Campaign Medals

3. Coronation and Jubilee Medals

4. Long Service and Good Conduct Medals

5. Foreign Medals and Decorations

Anyone who can help, please put me out of my misery.

Lee,

Thanks for that. This one has (or had) been bugging me ever since I saw the photograph of Field Marshall Haig on the front of his Biography.

Frank - No problem :)

There were many Officers (and men) who kept their medals in the old order of precedence and these can still be seen in mounted medal groups on the market today.
