Hi Malcolm,

Could you please let me know the source of your map (with woods).

Is it part of a larger map and if so, what area does it cover?

My particular interest in it regards the area where the 7th Division fought in October and November 1914.

Regards

Richard

Richard,

It is part of a schematic of the Ypres area from ' I Was There ' however I have a 1:10,000 trench map for the Hooge area of December 1915 which I can scan in parts for you if you want as well as the full schematic.

Aye

Benoit,

The Battle of Mount Sorrel in June 1916.

But I really wouldn't know how to start about it. Right now, a bit desperately, I am looking at pages 85 - 96 in Nigel Cave, Sanctuary Wood & Hooge (series Battleground Europe), but I really wish I had some summary from another source.

"More info" is a bit vague and so all-comprehensive I'm afraid. Maybe other forum members can help ?

Guest Benoit Douville

Hi all,

I really appreciate all the info. I am glad to know that it was the Canadian under General Currie who took Mount Sorrel and Hill 62 on june 13 1916 after a lot of failure before. 8 430 casualties is really high, those brave soldiers have all my respect. If someone have more info about this really interesting Battle don't hesitate to post it.

Best Regards
