BereniceUK Posted 17 September , 2013 Share Posted 17 September , 2013 He's buried at Fleetwood Cemetery and his name is inscribed on the town's memorial. The Congregational Church's memorial plaque has him as "Private Andrew Brand, Royal Engineers". He doesn't seem to be in the CWGC database. ]

CROONAERT Posted 17 September , 2013 Share Posted 17 September , 2013 What's his date of death? It says 14th August 1916 on his headstone in the photo above!
roughdiamond Posted 17 September , 2013 Share Posted 17 September , 2013 At work and my PC won't show some photo's posted on the site, doesn't even give me an indication a photo is there, it depends on what's been used to upload it, I don't even know what the headstone looks like. stevem49 Posted 17 September , 2013 Share Posted 17 September , 2013 If he died of a war related illness, he may already be on the IFCP list. If he isn't then a death certificate will be needed to prove cause of death. Sepoy Posted 17 September , 2013 Share Posted 17 September , 2013 Andrew Brand served as 42385 Pioneer A Brand, 81st Field Company RE. He was later remustered as a Sapper in February, 1916. Andrew was discharged being no longer physically fit for service on 5th July, 1916. It appears that this was due to diabetes caused by active service and shock, near Amiens on 4th June, 1916. He had been previously wounded in the scalp on 10th March, 1916. His pension papers can be found herehttp://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/1114/MIUK1914A_083455-00304/107203?backurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.co.uk%2fcgi-bin%2fsse.dll%3fdb%3dBritishArmy%26h%3d107203%26indiv%3dtry%26o_vc%3dRecord%253aOtherRecord%26rhSource%3d2352&ssrc=&backlabel=ReturnRecord#?imageId=MIUK1914A_083455-00308 He was awarded a British War Medal and Victory Medal. Hope this helps Sepoy
BereniceUK Posted 17 September , 2013 Author Share Posted 17 September , 2013 Thank you, Sepoy. That poor young man must have had a terrible last couple of months of life, like so many others.

PaulC78 Posted 25 February , 2023 Share Posted 25 February , 2023 BRAND (or BLAND on some of his records) remains uncommemorated, though he looks like a good case. Cause of death was apparently diabetes: From his service record: As noted above, he is buried at Fleetwood Borough Cemetery: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/167811568/andrew-leakie-brand#add-to-vc
