Steven Broomfield Posted 15 September , 2013 Posted 15 September , 2013 Can anyone assist with this chap? To explain: a very nice lady visited the KRH Museum yesterday, equipped with a photo of this chap (or someone believed to be this chap) wearing a pre-war Hussar uniform, which is pretty-well unidentifiable. She does have the chap's War Medal (which has the Victory Medal ribbon), with the above details; she is interested to know whether the Hussar is, indeed, Patrick O'Rourke (grandfather, I think), so it is just-about possible he went overseas and transferred. (It is, of course, equally possible there are a number of other possibilities). She also has a photo of someone who might be the same chap, but in what I think is RE signal service kit. It might be a brother, of course. Personally I think they all look like a Ben Turpin Tribute Act I don't have the photos, I'm afraid, so can't post them, but the facts on the medal are what I'd like clarifying - does anyone know anything about Pte O'Rourke? Can someone check his MIC for me?Ta in advance.
jay dubaya Posted 15 September , 2013 Posted 15 September , 2013 Steven, his papers are on ancestry. Enlisted 11th May 1916 and served with 10th RDF (no previous service recorded) transferred to LC # 398446 but does look like he spent a very short time at an RE Advanced Camp before this transfer Jon
Steven Broomfield Posted 15 September , 2013 Author Posted 15 September , 2013 Cheers. Interesting. Ta.
