Colonel James Drake

I've just bought a copy of Carroll Carstairs memoir 'A Generation Missing' & it's inscribed by Carstairs to a Colonel James Drake. Carstairs fought with the 3rd Grenadiers although he was originally commissioned into the Royal Artillery. I can find no mention of Drake in the book and a quick search of the London Gazette doesn't throw up any likely candidates.

The inscription is from 1930 so Colonel Drake may not have held that rank during the War. Any suggestions for tracking him down would be much appreciated.
