Remembered Today:

UK Memorial

Whilst checking a soldier casualty on the CWGC site the cemetery was shown as "UK Memorial".

I do not know whether I am being stupid but I cannot think what they are referring to. So can someone help me out?

Thanks

There are 177 casualties in the CWGC database listed as being named on the 'United Kingdom 1914-1918 Memorial'.

This memorial does not yet exist but is planned to be erected in Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey, UK. Plans for the memorial have already been drawn up.

The names of those on this memorial will be all those casualties who died in the UK but whose graves have never been traced or whose bodies were never recovered (ie drowned in estuaries etc and never found).

I have a copy of the register for this 'new' memorial if anyone is interested.
