That's intresting, the fella I'm looking at arrived in France with the 1/7th Bn and was immediately posted to the 13th Bn under this army order. There is no mention of a wound badge and this was his first time in a theatre of war

AO 204 of 1916 is listed under "Transfers: Compulsory, under Army Transfer Act". May I suggest that it should be AO 249 and 423 of 1916 for the wound stripe.

Yes, you are correct Kevin. For some reason the LLT has a quote that should be attributable to AO 249. This error has been duplicated many times on the Forum such that a search brings up both interpretations. Also I foolishly took the LLT to be the correct version rather than do a double check.

Definitely compulsory transfer. See scans in post #22 here -

Many thanks gents, this answers my question. My chap turned up in France as the 1/7th went into rest and the 13th were on their way to Messines... he only served on the front for 6 days before receiving a Blighty
