David Porter Posted 27 August , 2013 Share Posted 27 August , 2013 Wound Stripes - see http://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/research/index.php/find-your-soldier/interpreting-photographs-of-men-in-ww1-uniform/wound-stripes/ Incorrect - see below
jay dubaya Posted 27 August , 2013 Author Share Posted 27 August , 2013 That's intresting, the fella I'm looking at arrived in France with the 1/7th Bn and was immediately posted to the 13th Bn under this army order. There is no mention of a wound badge and this was his first time in a theatre of war Jon
kevinrowlinson Posted 27 August , 2013 Share Posted 27 August , 2013 AO 204 of 1916 is listed under "Transfers: Compulsory, under Army Transfer Act". May I suggest that it should be AO 249 and 423 of 1916 for the wound stripe. Kevin
David Porter Posted 27 August , 2013 Share Posted 27 August , 2013 Yes, you are correct Kevin. For some reason the LLT has a quote that should be attributable to AO 249. This error has been duplicated many times on the Forum such that a search brings up both interpretations. Also I foolishly took the LLT to be the correct version rather than do a double check. Definitely compulsory transfer. See scans in post #22 here -
