roughdiamond Posted 9 August , 2013 Posted 9 August , 2013 Hi folks Below is a Medal I spotted in a box containing a WW1 trio, looks to me like it's George VI, can anyone identify it please? Thanks Sam
Staffsyeoman Posted 9 August , 2013 Posted 9 August , 2013 It's the Special Constabulary Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. The scan is a bit fuzzy, so I can't isolate it to a pre- or post-1947 issue (when the abbreviation IND: IMP, for INDIAE IMPERATOR - Emperor of India was removed). Awarded for 9 years' service; wartime service counted as triple time. All are named; Constables show no rank, but name in full. Officers have (police) rank.
roughdiamond Posted 9 August , 2013 Author Posted 9 August , 2013 Thank you very much Phil. Not sure it's for the same man and the auction house is closed now, As well as the Trio, there's a Territorial Efficiency medal to the same man (a Territorial Sapper) an additional Victory medal, an SWB, as well as various cap badges and collar dogs. Think I'll bid on it anyway. Sam
