MIC Question #2

Terry

Recommended Posts

The MIC to 14229 Pte.Sydney Eyre,8/KOYLI arrived this morning, and there are several notations regarding his victory medal. I had assumed that it had simply gone missing from the other two sometime over the years, but now I'm not sure.

Is anyone able to translate the notes?

So much for my scanning skills! I will attempt to copy down the entry:

A.G. Navy (?) forwards for disposal Vic.med.

C.R.V. 143/B 3/9/25 NW/2/14623

Victory med. retd. U/D.C.R.V./45Bd 17.10.25

I'm unsure if indeed the word is "navy" but it is close.

Bringing up this thread again, in hopes someone can help. It looks like the victory may have been returned to the authorities for some reason.

I would read the last line as meaning the medal was returned undelivered in 1925 - I believe the CRV etc, etc are internal Army Medal Office references.

Can't help with AG Navy
