Chris_Baker Posted 20 June , 2013 Share Posted 20 June , 2013 Leslie's service records exist and can be found at Ancestry.co.uk. Just entering his name finds them. That suggests you might find this guidance useful: http://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/research/index.php/find-your-soldier/
Sandie Hayes Posted 20 June , 2013 Share Posted 20 June , 2013 I have found the citation for Alec's DCM: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during a counter attack. He rushed forward and killed 2 of the enemy who were mounting a machine gun. Thus enabling his platoon to continue it's advance. His prompt and gallant action did much to make the attack a success. Admin spof Posted 20 June , 2013 Admin Share Posted 20 June , 2013 Your local library will probably have a subscription to Ancestry as well.
CGM Posted 20 June , 2013 Share Posted 20 June , 2013 I'm not sure which country you are in, tahemi, but in some libraries in the UK you can use their computers for free, and access Ancestry. Would this be any use for you?
