Remembered Today:

Lovat Scouts casualties question

Skipman

Recommended Posts

There is a Dudley G Griffiths who died at Docking, Norfolk in the Sept quarter of 1915 aged 34.

That will be him then Glen. Wonder what cause of death was.

Will have a look in the British Newspaper Archive shortly.

Thanks for that

Mike

I'm using FMP but they are just standard civilian death registraions that you can see on FreemBMD or Ancestry. I just find FMP much more effective than Ancestry. If you wanted references for death certificates for those who died abroad, they are also on FMP.

OK Glen, thanks. I don't have FMP anymore. I don't have much experience with English death certs, as most of the men am researching were Scottish.

So a Scottish Lovat Scout, dying in England would be registered in England. There must be a few of the 33 men who died in Scotland? Over the next few weeks will chip away at the names, and anyone else feel free to do same. I won't mind.

The "English" indexes also cover Wales and if you're really stuck, Irish indexes are available on Familysearch and Ancestry.
