I am looking for a 1917 trenchmap from area half way between Laon and Soisson. The exact location stretches from Fort Malmaison via Chavignon-Parny-Filain to Monampteuil (some 5km) with fermes Many and Pantheon

Egbert.

If you need any more on top of what David might be sending you, just let me know (not via a PM.... they irritate the hell out of me) detailing exactly what you are looking for. I've got French trenchmaps from April and September 1917 for that area (I may have some other dates too, but would have to check.... I'd be surprised if I didn't have an October edition too) and may also have a German trenchmap - but this is likely to date from 1918 unfortunately - so could probably cover what you are needing one way or another.

Here's one for starters, Egbert (French, Sept 1917)....

I'll email you later tonight (or, knowing me, in the early hours of the morning!) with some others in higher resolution (I can immediately see one of the locations you seek (labelled) on a German map I'll be sending, but will have to look for the other).

Dave, I stand by for tonight's high res image. So far this particular posted map is the correct location. I am looking for German positions " Höhle von Beauregard" and "Malepartushöhle" (the word Höhle means engl.: cave), which I suspect either to be at what your French map says "Carrieres de Tonnieres" or at what is labeled next to (East of)"Dantzig trench", High res will show better- hopefully, but a German map with German names would be PERFECT. Within the same small area the Germans mention the following other positions: Weißbachschlucht, Abschnitt Gotha, Abschnitt Danzig, Astahang, Beauregard Plateau. On French maps the Höhle von Beauregard supposed to be named also as Point Rond.......So let's wait and see what you have .......(I know you do have..... )

Email with images sent, Egbert. I don't think that all those places/features are labelled, but some certainly are so I hope they help anyway.

thanks again to Dave and David for their map support. All places identified now -the hotly battled Beauregard cave is no mystery location anymore.
