Any ideas?
Admin kenf48 Posted 20 May , 2013 Admin Share Posted 20 May , 2013 I have the Order of Service for the unveiling of a war memorial tablet (perhaps your parish has a similar document in the archives or Parish Magazine). I don't think it would fit the bill as 'a short service' but for information the opening hymn was 'O God our help in ages past' followed by a prayer then another Hymn, 'Forever with the Lord'; the Lesson; a solo 'O rest in the Lord'; an address by the priest; and anthem 'Crossing the Bar' - unveiling of the memorial - (Congregation is silent prayer); then hymn For all the saints who from their labour's rest; during the hymn the congregation will pass the memorial in silent reverence; Benediction; Recessional Hymn PEace perfect peace in this dark world of sin? and of course a retiring offertory Providence Congregational Church Stainland April 10th 1921. keithfazzani Posted 20 May , 2013 Share Posted 20 May , 2013 The Army Chaplain's website http://www.oremus.org/labarum/ has an excellent selection of appropriate services and ready to print sheets. Look under the heading Remembrance on the left. I have used several of them.
