Guest dermotdjt Posted 9 May , 2013 Share Posted 9 May , 2013 HI Attached is a photograph of William J Slade in a uniform which I believe to be of the Royal Garrison Artillery. I believe the photo is about 1913 give or take a year or so. Is anyone able to determine any other information from this picture. For instance, is the pattern of the cuff insigna of any significance to rank or unit or is it a standard pattern. The insignia on the epaulette does not quiet seem to be the standard RGA badge. Any suggestions? And what is the object to his left at his hip on the window ledge? Many thanks for any help you can provide. Derm ot
FROGSMILE Posted 9 May , 2013 Share Posted 9 May , 2013 Yes he is in a standard pattern 9-button dark blue artillery tunic with yellow cord Austrian knots and tracing around the collar. His shoulder titles are Territorial Force and comprise a T above RGA above a region (Southern, Western etc). The object at his hips is the handle of the piano stool on which he is sitting. He appears to have put just his tunic and forage cap on for the photo, as it can be seen that he has herringbone pattern civilian trousers.
