the use of RFC titles on 02 SD

references I have seen show liberal use of the 02 pattern service dress by the Royal flying corps alongside the maternity pattern. Images however showing the use of the embroidered shoulder title in both maternity and 02 rigs seems to suggest that its adoption was far from universal. My main reference source shows only one image of the titles in use on SD and a couple without. whilst a statistician would say that meant that the titles were worn 33% of the time, clearly that is not a yardstick to go by.

I would be interested in discovering what factors governed the use of these titles.
