Skipman Posted 16 April , 2013 Share Posted 16 April , 2013 The Straits impregnable by sydney De Loghe I think this book might have been controversial and banned originally? It may Sydney Loch? CGM Posted 17 April , 2013 Share Posted 17 April , 2013 There is a good explanation about the author and the book HERE if you scroll down to number 9. Mike, I have just read the first two chapters and they really brought home to me how many of the young men who left the UK for a new life in Australia felt they had to give everything up and return to defend their Motherland. Reading them left me feeling quite emotional because my Granddad was one such. He always intended to return to Australia but events prevented it. CGM Posted 17 April , 2013 Share Posted 17 April , 2013 Yes, he obviously led an amazing life. I can't seem to find a service record for him as Sydney Lochs, though. CGM
