I have tried searching the forum without success and wondered if someone could help??

Whilst on the Somme I found several bullet cartridges but can only see the marks on one ----

S67 P 15 10

Can anyone help or suggest a website please?

Thanks

It is a German 7.92x57mm round, used in both the G98 rifle and Maxim machine guns

It was made by Polte Munitionsfabriken, Werke Magdeburg (P) in October (10) 1915 (15). The "S67" represents the "S" type case for the pointed spitzer bullet made from a brass alloy with 67% copper.

The headstamp code page of the International Ammunition Association is pretty good, but one has to know the context of the headstamp. For example, there are several makers listed for "P" but only one is right! http://www.cartridge...=headstampcodes

This is also quite helpful: http://ator1149.home...html#headstamps

Your best bet though is to ask here.
