Remembered Today:

Cap badge - probably Welsh Regt

Recommended Posts

Hello - I hope that someone will be able to help with this cap badge.

Photo of unknown soldier, probably from Treboeth, Swansea - the shape suggests it could be the Welsh Regiment cap badge, but I'd be grateful for any suggestions / confirmation.

Thanks,

Gethin

More Like the Prince of Wales's Volunteers (South Lancashire regiment)

Having goggled Mr B's suggestion. It fits(not that I doubt his know how on horsey regiments)

Not Glamorgan yeomanry or Welsh regiment. Only other "native" badge would be RE, royal mons. Looks noting like these regiments.

From swansea but placed into what ever regiment needed him.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

This information may help to pin-point the soldier - the photo comes from a family collection, which contains many postcards from members of Caersalem Newydd chapel. This chapel's WW1 roll of honour (see http://www.peoplescollection.org.uk/Item/31176-caersalem-newydd-ww1-roll-of-honour ) has 79 names, but only one is noted as serving with the South Lancs : D Lewis.

Thanks again,

Gethin
