Over Open Sights Posted 27 March , 2013 Share Posted 27 March , 2013 Greetings All, I wonder if those with the knowledge would help me out? I'm trying to gather together information on the regimental patches worn on the Foreign Service helmet by the fourteen Yeomanry regiments that served with the Desert Mounted Corps in 1917-18. Four of them elude me. They are: Worcestershire Yeomanry (Queen's Own Worcestershire Hussars) East Riding Yeomanry Buckinghamshire Yeomanry (Royal Buckinghamshire Hussars) Nottinghamshire Yeomanry (South Nottinghamshire Hussars) If anyone can give me a written description or even an image I would be very grateful. Thanks Mark

Doctord84 Posted 27 March , 2013 Share Posted 27 March , 2013 Hello Mark From a painting based on four members of the ERY during the Palestine campaign. This is supposed to be Jim Appleton. Dave
Over Open Sights Posted 28 March , 2013 Author Share Posted 28 March , 2013 Arthur, Just replied to your PM before checking the main discussion list. Cracking. I had a mail today from the curator of the Worcerstershire Yeomanry museum. He mentions the "pear blossom" on a rectangular patch made up of the regimental colours.... "It consisted of a rectangular patch approx 3.5inches x 2.0 inches in the Regimental Colours of Claret, Dk Green and Dk Blue. On the coloured patch a Pear Blossom is embroidered in Cotton." He's sending me an image. Will post when I receive. Doctord84..... there it is....plain blue flash on the right hand side! Thanks. Great painting.
