Beselare Posted 27 March , 2013 Share Posted 27 March , 2013 I think I am not using the correct words when trying to search the National Archives for the above battery. If anyone has successfully traced a similar battery, can you please advise me what the correct words and characters have to be on the keyword sections to see if the diary is available online. Many thanks Bob
Admin spof Posted 27 March , 2013 Admin Share Posted 27 March , 2013 Bob I don't think RFA batteries kept their own war diaries. I don't recall ever seeing one in NA. Searching for 15 Brigade gets war diairies in WO 95/1528 (Aug 14 to Nov 17 and April 18 to Mar 19) and WO 95/216 (May to Nov 17) Glen
battiscombe Posted 27 March , 2013 Share Posted 27 March , 2013 the diary will indeed be within the Brigade diary. In 1914-15 some batteries did in fact keep their own diaries [not much beyond early 1915 from ones I have seen] , which may be found within the Brigade records, in this case WO 95/1528
Beselare Posted 28 March , 2013 Author Share Posted 28 March , 2013 Thank you both for your help. I have checked the NA and as luck would have it, the diary is not available online. However, I have a friend in London who will help. Bob
