Think this may be a Lancashire Hussar (Rusholm studio).

Any confirmation or otherwise would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Tim

I'd agree. The Yorkshire Dragoons are a possibility, but the Derbyshire Yeomanry were "heavy" and wore a rose as part of their cap badge, so is that a possibility?

He is in the Duke of Lancasters Own Yeomanry

P.B.

That makes sense because the DLOY were classed as Dragoons--which makes sense with the helmet

and he is wearing the DLOY`s helmet plate and collars.

A dead give away then--for those in the loop  A great portrait too, for any avid DLOY collector

I agree, front row far right. No doubt.

Thank you one and all - my woeful ignorance of matters 'mounted' continues. Light v Heavy, Dragoon v Hussar v Lancer I seem to be able to mangle them all.

DLOY it is then and as for P.B's post well, as dear old Hancock used to stay, "stuff me old boots"

My education continues...

As an aside... we were lucky enough to be the guests of the DOLY yesterday in Wigan, they showed us those very helmets, of which they now only have eight!
