Yorkshire Dragoon Posted 23 March , 2013 Share Posted 23 March , 2013 Hello all... I recieved this picture along with some spurs I won on E-Bay. It is a postcard with no identifying marks to the reverse. Could anyone help with the regiment ? I've tried to sscan at a high resolution but if anyone need a close up..just say... Blackblue Posted 23 March , 2013 Share Posted 23 March , 2013 Looks like a Sgt in the 1st (Royal) Dragoons. They had a white metal lion on crown NCOs arm badge. Can you blow up the badges on his hat, upper arm and collar? Rgds Tim D
Steven Broomfield Posted 23 March , 2013 Share Posted 23 March , 2013 Has the look of post-GW: collar dogs for an o.r. and a general air of smartness.
squirrel Posted 23 March , 2013 Share Posted 23 March , 2013 Nicely proportioned horse as well.
Crunchy Posted 23 March , 2013 Share Posted 23 March , 2013 Tim, My first thought too - 1st (Royal) Dragoons. Cheers Chris

Wardog Posted 24 March , 2013 Share Posted 24 March , 2013 No medal ribons showing. Hard to be sure if its a post war cap. Peak may have had some work on it. Regards, Paul.
Blackblue Posted 25 March , 2013 Share Posted 25 March , 2013 Definitely 1st Dragoons. I also noted no medal ribbons, indicating it was probably taken pre 1919 if he served.
Graham Stewart Posted 29 March , 2013 Share Posted 29 March , 2013 If I remember correctly cavalry/yeomanry did tend to wear collars pre-1914 with SD and the lovely arm badge he's wearing is the QVC pattern, rather than the KC. For cavalry buffs it's a beautiful photo.
