Thought I'd share one of my current research projects with the forum.

The following group was awarded to S-9499 Pte. William F. Brown, 9th Royal Highlanders. He was later transferred to 53rd Squadron R.F.C. - the British War and Victory Medals are named 121934 1 .A.M. R.A.F.

Pte. Brown arrived in France on 20 November 1915 and was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry at Arras - L.G. 2 November 1917.

The group is accompanied by a gold Burgh of Callander War Tribute Medal, engraved 'TO WILLIAM F. BROWN IN RECOGNITION OF WAR HONOUR 1914 - 1918'. There's also a silver Army Football Championship Medal, named '2nd A.M. W.F. BROWN. 53, SQUADRON R.F.C.'

I'm currently waiting on information from Callander Library concerning the tribute medal etc. Just wondered if anyone had seen another one? I presume it was in recognition of his M.M.

Best wishes,

Derek

Nice group.

I've never seen a Callander W.T.Medal - very nice.

Glad he was not a 2nd Bn man or I would have had to stamp my foot ;)
