Riding shotgun Posted 19 March , 2013 Share Posted 19 March , 2013 Hello everyone Can anyone help with a query please, I am trying to find out what brass shoulder titles were used by the Bedfordshire Yeomanry during WW1, i believe it was TY Bedford but can anyone confirm this please, i als wondered if anyone could tell me what the TY stood for, i can only guess at Territorial Yeomanry but in no way sure of this. Thanks Colin
Old Owl Posted 19 March , 2013 Share Posted 19 March , 2013 Hi Colin, Welcome to the Forum. According to Westlake the Bedford Yeomanry had only three shoulder title variations: BIY (Bedford Imperial Yeomanry?); T/T/Bedford and Y/Bedford (Yeomanry/Bedford?) Unfortunately he does not extend the precise meanings and although 1 and 3 are obvious, 2 is not quite so? Territorial/T?/Bedford. It may be blindingly obvious when you know!! but I expect someone will be along soon to clarify this. Hope this helps? Robert

T8HANTS Posted 19 March , 2013 Share Posted 19 March , 2013 I wonder if T/T/Bedford is just a simple misprint for T/Y/=

Riding shotgun Posted 19 March , 2013 Author Share Posted 19 March , 2013 Thanks for the replies everyone, i have been tearing my hair out over this, i had assumed incorrectly for some time that it was BIY but that is of course the Boer war Period, during WW2 they used RA as they were by then Royal Artillery.
