Can the members assist with this query.

A collegue has a set of three medals and an identical pin-on three ribbon bar for a soldier of the Somerset Light Infantry.

The medals are inscribed as follows;

Great War Medal 1269 A.Cpl.E. Lacey Somerset Light Infantry

Territorial War Medal 1269 Pte E. Lacey Somerset Light Infantry

Territorial Force Efficiency Medal 240123 Pte. A. Cprl. E. Lacey 5/Somerset Light Infantry

The Medal Card Detals are;

WO 373/24/135574 Medal card for Lacey, E. Somerset Light Infantry 240123 Private Acting Corporal

WO 372/11/220488 Medal card for Lacey, E. Somerset Light Infantry 1269 Acting Corporal 240123

Whilst the lack of the Victory Medal is a query, can it be confirmed that these medal were all allocated to the same person?

Thank you

The Kneelagger

Yes because the MIC says they were his numbers, it also confirms the received the TFWM and the TFEM.

Yes, these three medals were all awarded to the same man. I would have thought that he should be entitled to the Victory Medal as well--but there may be a reason why he did not receive this--hopefully someone may be able to confirm this?

2/5th SLI served only in India, that'd account for the lack of Victory medal as you had to serve in a theatre of war to earn it.

Thank you for the prompt reponses to my query - The point re the India service clears up the absence of the Victory Medal, I was not aware of this.

Kneelager,

He has two numbers because territorials were renumbered in 1917. The 1269 was his original number allocated by his regiment/battalion upon joining whereas 240123 was what he was renumbered to.
