Cliff. Hobson Posted 5 September , 2004 Share Posted 5 September , 2004 I have had a query from a friend whose Father served in the 20th Battalion of the Kings Liverpool Regt., and was discharged 2nd February 1917. Can anyone tell me please what connection MOUNT BOURNE, had with the 20th Service Battalion of the Kings Liverpool Regt, for all I know after much searching varous channels it may not have anything to do with the Western Front or may be just a place where he got his discharge. My thanks and please accept my apologies if I waste anyone's time. Cliff.
Paul Reed Posted 5 September , 2004 Share Posted 5 September , 2004 I suspect this is a mis-pronounciation of Montauban, the village on the Somme where the Liverpool Pals fought on 1st July 1916?

Old Chap Posted 6 September , 2004 Share Posted 6 September , 2004 Cliff, If you don't have a copy i strongly recommend you to purchase the late Graham Maddocks book, ' The Liverpool Pals.' Great book with a lot of reference to all the four Liverpool Pals battalions. Regards, Bill ps Also the Battleground Europe book ' Montauban ' by the same author.
