There is some information here http://ator1149.home.xs4all.nl/wfm/ww1/ammunition2.html#canon However most of the information people have has been gathered from a variety of sources over the years such as manuals, Ammunition Treatises, documents in the National Archives and similar. By far the best way is to do what Museumtom suggests. post the pictures here and over time you will build up your own knowledge base.
