Can anyone identify the collar and shoulder badges on this fine you man (my grandfather)?

Assuming S. Saskatchewan - to which he original enlisted in before being transferred.

Knowing the shoulder badges would help me put a date on this picture.

Looks like 45th or 65th 'Inf'antry Battalion to me.

The 65th were the South Seskatchewans; their collar had a 65 on the maple leaf, which I can't quite see here, but...

definitely 65 / INF but CANADA not S Saskatchewan.

That is what I thought but wanted others opinions.

Confirms this would have been taken upon his enlistment in January 1916.
