Medal restoration questions......

I just became the owner of a Trio originally awarded to a

6738 Pte O.W.SNELGROVE 1 CAN INF ( on the 1914-15 Star)

6738 L.CPL O.W.SNELGROVE 1 CAN INF (on the B.W.M. and V.M.)

Should I attempt to find any history on him? If so, where to start…..

My intent is to use these medals in a display with a RAMC Captains sidearm I have in my possession. I have researched the Captain and he was awarded these same medals plus a MC and a MID. I know it would be better to have his originals, but, be it as it may, I’ll be happy with these and a replica MC. The trio needs new ribbons as the existing ones are pretty ratty. In addition to the ribbons I will need a replica/replacement MC, a 4 Medal rack and a MID device. Can anyone suggest a dealer where I could get these items? (at a reasonable price and one willing to ship to the US.)

I'd just buy a good replica set of the 4 you want. There are many Canadian medal collectors who would be aghast at that chicanery.
