Unit marked Bavarian/German Steyr-Hahn...

I've been looking for a Steyr Hahn for some time now and hoping when the time would arrive that it would be one of the Bavarian contract pieces of 1916/18. Well one showed up recently at a local gun show. It's in very good shape with a pristine bore. The unit marking shows that this pistol was the 4th listed in the inventory of the 8th Kompagnie of (J)Infantry Regiment 190. The 190th was a Prussian unit that was attached for a time to a Bavarian Division and that was probably where this pistol's Prussian acquistion took place. I showed these pics to a friend who resides in California and he shot me back a pic of his Steyr marked to the same regiment & company with inventory # 1. It's amazing to think that these pistols were rack mates almost a century ago and now reside at opposite ends of the USA. Here are some pics.

Hi Mike,

The Bavarian contracts of 1916 & 18 were in 9mm Steyr. The 9mm Parabellum conversions were done by the Nazis. A friend supplied me with a box of the Steyr ammo but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.
