Remembered Today:

Flog It

I just caught the second half of 'Flog It' on BBC 2. It was coming from Aberdeen and they visited the Gordons Museum. The curator - sorry didn't catch their name - mentioned that WWI plaques were made from old shell cases? Has anyone else ever heard similar?

Nice try from the Curator for a quaint story but plaques are a Bonze in composition Copper and Tin, Shell Cases are Brass Copper and Zinc so in a nutshell he was giving a bit of Spin.

I thought it sounded like one of those bizzare eBay description that crop up from time to time - Star cast from a fatal bullet etc. etc.

Teapots, on a different subject I mentioned an article on plaque design that I noticed in the Dundee Advertiser a few months ago. I haven't forgotten and will still get it copied for you. I haven't been in Dundee Library recently but should be there sometime in the next two or three weeks.

Best wishes,

Derek

Her comment that "Most Militaria has little or no commercial Value & consequently would be better Donated to the Museum"~Said, totally in earnest, as they stood in front of Cases displaying @ least 3 VC Groups made me Smile somewhat, she obviously has never browsed E Bay!! :D
