adrianjohn Posted 21 January , 2013 Share Posted 21 January , 2013 I have this photograph captioned as 'Llowes Court Boys' RAF uniforms. I wonder if this is correct - as far as the uniform identification is concerned? Can anyone cast some light? I guess that the photo was taken sometime after the RFC and another guess is that it's around 1920ish.

FROGSMILE Posted 21 January , 2013 Share Posted 21 January , 2013 Yes Royal Field Artillery (RFA) - perhaps the letters were transposed and caused confusion. Several have (presumably) oil skin cap covers and one (seated front right) has the 'simplified' SD jacket issued early in the war. Llowes Court is a very old (16th C) house and gardens that is not far from both, Hay on Wye (where there was a Training Camp) and the famous Radnor Arms public house. The Brecon Beacons provided a surrounding training area.
adrianjohn Posted 22 January , 2013 Author Share Posted 22 January , 2013 Thanks all for the input and for confirming my doubts about 'RAF'. Frogsmile: I know Hay and the Radnor Arms very well. Live just down the road! Lucky me - it's a great part of the world
