Cap Badge Identification

I discovered the attached photograph in an album of a relatives photographs. Unfortunately, we have not been able to identify the individuals although they are likely to be of a couple from Cornwall.

Can anyone help with the regiment or any other clues?

Thanks for your help!

Looking at Reg Cox's book on GW badges, I'd start with 23rd Canadian (The Montreal Battalion),

Thanks - what a helpful lot you are!

The photograph is on a post card with the photographers name of "Opie Ltd, Redruth & Branches"

Would it be likely that the 23 (Montreal) Infantry were in the UK and this soldier came to Cornwall to see relatives or could a resident Cornishman have joined a Canadian regiment?

What do you think?

They were in the UK, but didn't proceed to France & Belgium, so probably visiting family. Might have been local-born and emigrated before the war.
