IJDALLINGER Posted 18 January , 2013 Share Posted 18 January , 2013 Does anyone have any information on any divisional insignia that might have been worn on the helmet of members of the 41st division in 1918? I have details of the divisional and brigade insignia it's just trying to establish the use of such on the steel helmet. many thanks.
Mike_H Posted 19 January , 2013 Share Posted 19 January , 2013 12th I have read all the uniform questionnaires collected from units by the IWM in 1919 -20 and none of the 41st Div units mention using the div/brigade marks on helmets. In general the Division did not wear battalion i/d marks on uniform, the exception being 20th DLI who wore a red square at the top of both sleeves. The Div & Brigade signs appear to have been reserved for transport. Mike
