Paul Bradshaw Posted 6 January , 2013 Author Share Posted 6 January , 2013 Thanks for the replies. I am interested in events just prior to and including 15th October, 1915 when William Bradwell was wounded in the thigh. He subsequently died at home on 16th November the same year. any help would be appreciated. Paul.
bigjohn Posted 7 January , 2013 Share Posted 7 January , 2013 Phil 60th Brigade's front had a chinese attack [with smoke and dummies to confuse the enemy] No mention of 59th brigade untill the next night [16th] when 2nd Lt. M.L. Cope of the 11th R. B. Won an M.C. following a trench raid. Total casualties just prior to this for the Division was a total of 50 men looks like he was just unlucky. John Milner Posted 7 January , 2013 Share Posted 7 January , 2013 Paul The 20th Division was holding the line in the Laventie sector at the time your man was wounded. During the first two/three weeks of October there was no major engagements, just general trench warfare, artillery and mortar firing and trench raiding at night. There was a raid on the night of 8/9 October to blow the German wire with gun cotton torpedoes by RE officers who were escorted by men from the 10th RB and 11th KRRC, this could be the action when your man was wounded. Hope this is helpful. John
