Terry Carter Posted 10 April , 2003 Share Posted 10 April , 2003 If a soldier who enlisted into a Second line Territoral battalion in October 1914, i.e. 2/5th, 2/6th, 2/7th or 2/8th Royal warwicks for example. Then he surived the war. What happened to him at the end of the war? Would he have stayed on and become a territorial soldier or be demobilised like men in the Service battalions of the New Army. Paul Reed Posted 10 April , 2003 Share Posted 10 April , 2003 I believe he should have been demobbed, as he had joined the TF under war conditions i.e. 4 years or duration. He possibly could elect to join the TF for another (set) period of engagement, but I suspect few did which is why the TF was so under strength after WW1 and many units were eventually disbanded or amalgamated. cliff brown Posted 10 April , 2003 Share Posted 10 April , 2003 In many areas the TF was not re-formed until 1920 and 1921, so I don't think men remained in service.
