Hydrajack Posted 24 December , 2012 Share Posted 24 December , 2012 I've a picture of my grandfather taken, we think, in 1919 just before he was demobbed. He was a private in the RAMC from 1915. There is a stripe on his left sleeve about 4" above the cuff. It's diagonally across the sleeve starting higher on the outside and looks about 1/2" wide and 4" long. Is this a wound stripe? From what I've found (and in particular looking at the info on The Long Trail) they were vertical and much smaller than the one in my grandfather's picture. Cheers, Hydra

Hydrajack Posted 24 December , 2012 Author Share Posted 24 December , 2012 Thx for the reply, I think you just answered my question. I think I can see half of a good conduct stripe. There's also four small chevrons pointing upwards at the bottom of his right sleeve. I'm assuming these are overseas service chevrons? Which would make sense as he went to france in 1915 and was demobbed in 1919, the picture being taken in 1919. Is there someway I can send you the picture as the scanned file size is too big to upload on here. Regards, Hydra
