George Zelin?

I have found, on Ancestry, a Medal index Card transcribed as 'George A. Zelin'.

He is given as 1985, Pte. 9th King's Liverpool Regt. and the card refers to his Silver War Badge Roll entry. The SWB Roll again gives his surname as 'Zelin'. This entry is typed, so it's not as though I am reading it incorrectly. I know that he didn't serve overseas, so there will be no medal entitlement, but I can't find any reference to this surname anywhere on Ancestry other than 1 birth and death in Warwickshire in the 1880s. None on the Census, BMDs, nowt!

If anyone has any suggestions to clarify this surname issue I would be pleased to hear them.

There are records for George Arthur Zelen 1985 in the pension records on Ancestry and there is an address but I'm having trouble reading it.

533 Pr......Rd, Old Swan

and then

28, Alexandra St, Old Swan, L'pool.

He was ex Royal Navy.

Edited a few times.

Foreign citizen who came here post 1911 would have be my first guess.

EDIT: Pension record shows he was born in liverpool.

Here he is on the census

Thanks Chaps,

How I hate Ancestry's search engine!

I cleared every search box and just put in 'Zelin' in the surname box and all I got back was his MIC and the aforementioned birth/death.

Blood pressure subsiding - thanks again.
