pgardiner1418 Posted 9 December , 2012 Share Posted 9 December , 2012 All, After moving to their War Station at Romsey in September 1914 7th King's Liverpools move to Sevenoaks on the 18th of October before moving on to Canterbury on 28th they are at Sevenoaks for 10 days, can anyone tell me what the purpose of this visit was? I think there may have been some sort school or course set up there as it seems other elements of the West Lancashire Division were also at Sevenoaks at various times in 1914. All the best, Paul. Terry_Reeves Posted 9 December , 2012 Share Posted 9 December , 2012 Paul I don't think it is any more complicated than it being part of the Divisional war station. Take a look at the link below: http://eprints.worc.ac.uk/384/4/Chapter_Two.pdf TR

pgardiner1418 Posted 9 December , 2012 Author Share Posted 9 December , 2012 Terry, Thank you for the link I had already read that thesis with interest. It is more the shortness of the 10 days visit I was interested in and the nature of the training. It seems that 6th King's were also at Sevenoaks at the same time and I was wondering if it was a centre for bringing together Battalions into Brigades before moving the whole Division down to the Canterbury, Tunbridge area, interestingly 1/5 King's Own Lancaster's go to Sevenoaks in November 1914 they being also part of the West Lancs Division. All the best, Paul.
